Greater Boston PSR's 10-13-2004 Fundraiser

Nearly 50 people turned out on October 13,2004 at the home of Clark and Wendy Abt in Cambridge for GBPSR's informative and entertaining GBPSR fundraising event. They heard about SMART security from PSR's national field director Ira Shorr, solutions to protect America from bioterrorism from Dr. Abt, and a new environmental book project of Philip and Alice Shabecoff that GBPSR is sponsoring. PSR's new president-elect and GBPSR Board member John Pastore spoke about the challenges ahead for PSR, and PSR Security Committee chair/IPPNW Treasurer Ira Helfand spoke about priority campaigns for both organizations and reported on international discussions at IPPNW's recent World Congress in Beijing. The political satire of "Senator Jess Trussme" (aka Ira Shorr) provided some welcome humor after sobering discussion of the critical issues of the day.
