Workshop Summary

The morning and afternoon workshops have been designed to provide an opportunity for participants to explore in greater detail the issues raised during the morning and afternoon plenaries, and to examine clinical approaches to preventing toxic exposures. The morning workshops will allow participants to explore clinical implications of neurodevelopmental threats posed by toxicants at specific stages of the human life cycle, and gain greater familiarity with toxicants of concern, health effects as illustrated by key studies, and exposure pathways. Clinicians will discuss environmental history-taking, anticipatory guidance to prevent exposures, and also will have the option of an in-depth discussion around biomonitoring and other diagnostic tools available, as well as referral resources. The afternoon workshops will focus on clinical interventions and prevention strategies specific to particular environments and sources of toxins, including environmental public policy measures that affect public health, and an assessment of proposed or potential environmental policies and regulations that would be more health-protective.
